The land of the Pharaohs is turning into a new energy player to be reckoned with in the Middle East. The last decade has witnessed a rise in fortunes for Egypt, who has witnessed impressive discoveries, most notably in its offshore domain. The country is now rapidly becoming a major gas producer, has taken a rising role as a gas exporter and there are ambitious plans ahead to further this role as an LNG player, and as a possible supplier to Turkey and Europe, via the Nabucco project. This has been possible through the concerted and successful action of local and international players, and the development of a local knowledge base for the industry. From upstream E&P, to services and supplies, from refining and retail to transportation and storage, all the oil and gas actors that matter are in "The Oil & Gas - Egypt 2009".
