New oil minister named in Ghana

ACCRA, January 12, 2017 – Newly installed President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Boakye Agyarko as Ghana’s minister of petroleum. He succeeds Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.

Agyarko, whose name appeared on a cabinet list issued on Tuesday, has had a career in banking, including more than 20 years at BNY Mellon.

Earlier this week, another West-African nation saw a change of the guard at its petroleum ministry. On Monday, Gabon’s Minister of Petroleum and Hydrocarbons, Etienne Dieudonné Ngoubou, was replaced by Minister of Economy Pascal Houangni Ambourouet.
